Student & Family Guide

• ✦Arrive on time. Students should arrive a few minutes before the scheduled start and be ready to begin promptly. Directors open doors at published times, not before.
• ✦Pick-up at dismissal. Parents or guardians are responsible for timely drop-off and pick-up at each venue's designated entrance.
• ✦Absence notice. If your student cannot attend, please notify us in advance. Make-up classes may be offered at the directors' discretion when space and scheduling allow.
• ✦Stay with the group. Students must remain with directors and classmates at all times and follow instructions for venue safety.

A tailored dress suit or blazer combination is required.

• ✦A dark navy, charcoal, or black suit, or a coordinated blazer with dress slacks, is always appropriate.
• ✦A long-sleeved, collared dress shirt in white, light blue, or another classic solid must be worn and neatly tucked in.

• ✦Dress slacks or khakis in good condition.
• ✦A tie or bow tie is required at all classes and events unless otherwise stated.
• ✦A belt that matches the shoes should be worn whenever trousers have belt loops.

• ✦Closed-toe dress shoes or loafers in black or brown, polished and in good repair.
• ✦Dress socks that coordinate with the trousers or shoes.
• ✦Keep jewelry and accessories minimal and refined.

Knee-length or midi only.

A well-chosen hem lets a young lady move with ease and confidence — dancing, sitting, and greeting others without a second thought. The hem should rest at or just below the knee when standing and remain graceful when walking or seated.

• ✦We kindly ask families to avoid mini dresses, high-low hems that rise above the knee in front, and dresses that ride up noticeably when seated.
• ✦A simple test: if Grace Kelly would have worn it in High Society, if Audrey Hepburn would have worn it in Roman Holiday, or if Catherine, Princess of Wales, or Princess Charlotte would wear it in public — it is right for Cotillion.

• ✦Straps should be at least one inch wide.
• ✦Fabric must be fully opaque.
• ✦Avoid tight or body-con cuts that pull at the neckline.

When in doubt: choose the option that feels calm, polished, and respectful of both the young lady wearing it and those around her. That is the standard we uphold at the Loudoun County Chapter.

• ✦Students are expected to participate fully, listen attentively, and treat directors, instructors, fellow students, and venue staff with courtesy and kindness, as they themselves would like to be treated.
• ✦Students must be respectful of both our venue spaces and the venue staff who host us.
• ✦Electronic devices should remain off and put away during classes and events unless specifically permitted.
• ✦Parents and guardians are partners in reinforcing these expectations at home.
